Whitening Your Teeth Will Lead To A Brighter Smile

There’s no easier way to put a person at ease than with a smile. Yet for millions of Americans, it remains a part of their appearance that they are unsatisfied with. It’s easy to see that your smile perhaps isn’t as white as it used to be and there are many factors that play into why. It’s not necessarily poor oral health.  Aging and lifestyle are two of the most common components that play into it. But things as simple as taking certain medications or drinking coffee, cola, red wine, or smoking can make your smile look dull and less attractive.

The Popularity of Teeth Whiting

Whitening your teeth has come into popularity these last few decades as one of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to dramatically enhance your smile. Through teeth whitening, one can correct brown, yellow, or spotted tooth staining in a near-permanent solution that restores brightness to your teeth. At Friedman Dental Group, we offer only the latest and most effective technologies in whitening your teeth – the ZOOM.

Get a Brighter Smile with Zoom Whitening

teeth-whitening02If you are unhappy with your smile and wish you had whiter teeth and a more radiant smile, then Zoom whitening may be the treatment for you. This popular bleaching treatment is widely used throughout the world, and it is highly effective at lightening discolored dentin and enamel. Find out how Zoom whitening can give you the stunning smile that you’ve been looking for.

The ZOOM laser allows us, in just under an hour, remove stains and whiten your teeth up to ten shades lighter. This doesn’t damage the enamel of your teeth and is the most inexpensive way available to put you on your path to a beautiful white smile.

How much whitening that can be done varies depending on the person and quality of teeth but we will be able to show you the full whitening potential of your teeth upon further appointment. With the ZOOM laser, you will be amazed at the results – revolutionary results in just one visit.

If you’re interested in Zoom whitening as a way to whiten your teeth, the first thing you should do is set up an appointment with your dentist. He or she will examine your teeth and gums to make sure they are healthy. This information along with your oral hygiene habits can help your dentist to determine if whitening is right for you.

During the Procedure

During your initial appointment, your dentist will make note of any existing dental work that you have in place. Veneers and crowns won’t respond to typical whitening agents. Depending on the condition of your mouth and your treatment goals, you and your dentist can come up with a plan as to how to best whiten your teeth.

Zoom whitening usually only takes about an hour from start to finish, but most dentists will do a thorough teeth cleaning before the actual whitening session. Once the procedure begins, your gums and lips will be prepared so that they are out of the way and the teeth are exposed. Then, your dentist will apply the Zoom whitening gel onto your teeth. This gel works with a specialized light to penetrate the surface of the teeth to break apart discoloration and stains. The gel stays in place for 15 minutes while the light is on, and you can relax comfortably during this time. This 15 minute session is then repeated two more times so that your total treatment is 45 minutes.

Some people may experience tooth sensitivity after Zoom whitening. To reduce these sensations, many dentists will apply a sensitivity-reducing paste or gel onto the teeth. If you continue to experience tooth sensitivity after your procedure, consult with your dentist about what other steps you can take to improve your comfort level.

Keeping Your Smile White

After you’ve had your teeth whitened with the Zoom whitening system, you’ll receive a touch-up kit that you can use at home. This kit will include whitening trays that you can use to keep your teeth pearly white. You should also avoid foods and beverages that might stain your teeth, including soda, red wine, coffee, and teeth, and tobacco products should be avoided at all cost.

Foods That Will Give You a Naturally Whiter Smile

Most people have heard the old adage  “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” but there is actually more truth in that then you may realize. There are many foods that you eat every day that can make a positive impact on dental health.

apple

Apples
Apples have a high concentration of malic acid (which is used in some tooth pastes), this type of acid works to increase saliva which cleans teeth and helps remove stain. The texture of apples also help to scrub your teeth as you chew and eat the fruit.

Broccoli
Broccoli is high in both iron and fiber. The iron helps to strengthen your tooth’s enamel which helps protect the tooth from bacteria, and the fiber helps to reduce inflammation in the mouth (and the rest of the body).

Cheese

Cheese can help keep your teeth strong by providing minerals, such as: calcium and phosphorus. Also according to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the lactic acid found in cheese can protect against tooth decay.

Strawberries
These little berries pack a lot of punch in terms of dental health. They contain vitamin C, ellagitannins and antioxidants which can help to prevent periodontal disease and gum inflammation, as well as to help reduce the amount of staining bacteria in your mouth. They like apples contain malic acid to increase saliva and clean teeth.

Water
Staying properly hydrated throughout the day promotes saliva production, which in turn help to keep your smile naturally whiter. Drinking water also helps to clean the mouth of any loose plaque or debris.

Why Choose ZOOM?

Discolorations caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to your teeth isn’t permanent. The ZOOM laser is evidence of that.

Now there are various over-the-counter bleaching agents that are available for purchase at drug stores and pharmacies throughout the country. These products can cause harm to the gums and teeth however. This is why we recommend the ZOOM laser. It is the safest and fastest way to get the results you want. We don’t wish to burn your gums or harm your teeth. We choose safety above all else and there’s no safer teeth whitening method than the ZOOM laser.
